Obituary for James Anthony Librizzi

James Anthony Librizzi
James Anthony Librizzi was born on October 1, 1931 in Newburgh, New York, the second child of Anthony and Rose (Russe) Librizzi.

He served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953 and following his discharge he married his sweetheart, Dorothy Virginia Vinci, on May 1, 1955 at St. Peter's Church, Haverstraw, New York. James and Dorothy had two daughters, Stephanie, born in 1957, and Valerie, born in 1959 in Newburgh, New York and raised them in the nearby town of New Windsor in the Hudson Valley.

After working for over 35 years as an electronic technician for the US Military Academy at West Point, New York, James retired and moved with Dorothy to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2000 where he resided until his death.

An avid and imaginative storyteller, James loved telling fun, creative stories to his four grandchildren. James and Dorothy enjoyed traveling and visited many exotic and fascinating locations during their retirement years and were very involved in the local Italian Club in Colorado Springs.

James is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy; a brother, Stephen DiCarlo; a sister, Ann Leamy; two daughters, Stephanie Stillwell and Valerie Hanchett; four grandchildren: Monica Ferguson, Lindsay Stillwell, Adam Hanchett and Kyle Hanchett; and two great grandchildren, Oliver and Parker Ferguson.

A celebration of life will be held on June 22, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charitable organization of your choice.
