Obituary for Robert Raymond Root
Robert was born on January 21, 1967 to Roy Root and Sandra Root (now Milner) in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Bobby was a model enthusiast. His house was littered with models of World War two fighter planes and trains. He was also an avid hunter and preferred to go up in the mountains every November to hunt elk. He was often a regular spectator at the I-25 speedway and knew his way around an engine block. He attended Widefield High School and graduated in 1986. Evidence of his welding skill can be seen in the Gladiator statue in front of Widefield High; his initials are inscribed on its underside. Robert was known for his playful spirit, and kind heart. He was known to offer help to those in need.
Robert is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Ellen and Stanley Root, his maternal grandparents: Pearly and Raymond Ireland, his father, Roy Root, and his son, Woodrow Root.
He is survived by his mother, Sandra Milner, and 5 children: Thomas, Travis, Barbara, Theodore, and Belledonna Root; and one granddaughter, Lucille.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, September 12, at the Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO.
