Many funeral homes in El Paso County provide cremation services through an off-site warehouse facility in an industrial park rather than at the funeral home in which you made the necessary arrangements. We do not use an off-site crematory operated by a third party and we do not share our crematory with our competitors.
Most of the horrid headlines in the national news regarding cremation have occurred because funeral directors have utilized third parties who perform cremations at a remote location on behalf of numerous funeral homes. By making the investment of purchasing and maintaining our own crematory at the Shrine of Remembrance we have been able to give families peace of mind in the cremation process.
For families that are not satisfied with this explanation, we offer the opportunity to view their loved one just prior to insertion into the crematory. They can remain in the Gate of Heaven Chapel (adjoining the crematory building) throughout the cremation process and can receive the cremated remains about five hours later.
