Leland “LP” Patrick Norvell, born to Marvin Crewson Norvell and Anna Brennan on March 14, 1929, passed away peacefully in his home on March 18, 2017. He was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 3 sisters, and his late wife Helen. He is survived by his two children: Linda Seltzer and Michael Norvell (Judy), both of Colorado Springs. In addition, he leaves behind four grandchildren: Melanie Seltzer, Heather Slawson, Kari Norvell, Sean Norvell, and one great-grandson.

He attended Peyton High School where he played basketball. He began working at a young age, but eventually found commercial painting to be his forte. Over the years, he painted barracks and buildings at 48 different military bases across the United States. He entered retirement at the age of 81, ending his 50-year career as a paint contractor at Fort Carson. Beyond painting he was a jack of all trades and with a roll of duct tape, he could rig anything.

LP enjoyed traveling across the country visiting family-friends and creating new memories. His travels took him as far north as Alaska and all the way down into the Florida coastline. LP was a fisherman at heart, he was in his element whether he was sitting on a pier watching the waves break or in a boat sunup to sundown waiting for a nibble.

LP was beloved by all who knew him. His charismatic personality, and keen sense of humor, appealed to all who met him. He was a generous man willing to help family and extended family-friends when needed.

A visitation will be held the evening of Friday, March 24th, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 25th, 10:00 a.m. at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E Fountain Blvd. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to American Heart Association or Hospice Foundation.
