Unveiling of the “America the Beautiful” Centennial Memorial on July 4, 1993, at the Fabulous Fourth celebration with the Colorado Springs Symphony. Costas Rombocos, the plaque’s donor, is at left and U.S. Senator Hank Brown is on the right. The news media reported 85,000 people in attendance.
 
 
Unveiling at the Summit
The unveiling of the “America the Beautiful” Centennial Memorial at the summit of Pikes Peak October 5, 1993. The 8’x4’ bronze plaque designates the site where Katharine Lee Bates was inspired to write the words to “America the Beautiful” in 1893.
