Obituary for Marion Benton Hopkins

Marion Benton  Hopkins
Marion Benton Hopkins, Lt. Col. USAF Ret., passed away on June 7, 2018 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He had been a resident of Colorado Springs since 1969.

He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Benton Hopkins, and his mother, Viola Williams Hopkins.

Marion was in the Navy for WWII. He left the Navy and entered Southern Illinois University, earning a bachelor’s degree. After college he became an officer in the Air Force. He was involved in the Korean War and Vietnam. He had travelled the Far East in the military and retired from military service in 1969.

He married Dona D. Hammond on February 13, 1976. They enjoyed many hobbies: motorhoming, fishing and hunting, trips through Alaska and the Panama Canal were memorable. He and his wife were married for 42 years.

Visitation will be at Shrine of Remembrance on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Private entombment will be at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Gate of Heaven.

Dona will miss that twinkle in his eye, his intelligence, his wit and his great sense of humor! She misses him greatly!
