Obituary for Kerry Ann Kantor

Kerry Ann Kantor
Kerry Ann Kantor (nee Pfisterer) passed away at home on Monday, May 28, 2018. She was 63 years old.

Kerry was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, and new grandmother – a title she cherished. A true renaissance woman, Kerry never shied from a challenge, be it homeschooling her two children through high school graduation, working with and advocating for homeschooling families at the level of the state legislature, running for National House of Representatives on the Libertarian ticket and winning an entire district in Colorado Springs, or mastering every recipe and culinary technique that happened to cross her path. No building project was ever too great, no party was ever too grand to plan or carry out, no office was ever too daunting to organize and run with masterful expertise, and she would prove to everyone that almost everything could eventually be solved with either the right hot meal or the right Excel spreadsheet. She never met a stranger, nor knew any enemies, and she was a loving mother to everyone who happened need one. She considered her children her greatest accomplishment.

Kerry grew up in East Setauket, New York and was the eldest daughter of Patricia and Raymond Pfisterer’s 6 children. She graduated from Ward Melville High School, Class of 1973, and went on to the University of Maryland, College Park. While attending college, she met a very polite young man, Mark Kantor, and they promptly fell in love. After a few years of dating, the two quickly wed in a courthouse ceremony in Merced, California before immediately relocating with the Air Force to Okinawa, Japan. Kerry and Mark would tour the world for business and leisure for several years, making memories they would cherish and speak fondly of often, before returning to the United States and starting their family, eventually coming to settle in Colorado Springs in 1992. In 2000, they finally built their dream home, in Peyton, on a perfectly-treed 5 acre piece of land overlooking the majestic Bijou Basin. There, they could watch the weather roll in from the North, the wild birds flock to her feeders, the deer and turkeys in their little forest. At night, they could marvel at the dark-sky-site deepness of the universe and listen to the mysterious little frogs that came to inhabit their small burbling waterfall. Having built the perfect oasis, Kerry would happily live out the remainder of her days, surrounded by everything she loved the most.

Kerry is survived by her husband, Mark; their two children, Grace and Maxwell; her grandson, Merrick; and her 5 brothers and sisters.

Memorial Service will be held at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard on Friday, June 8 at 2pm. All who knew her are invited and welcome to attend.
