Obituary for Joe Willie Anderson

Joe Willie  Anderson
Joe Willie Anderson passed away on April 19, 2018 where he was surrounded by his family. He was a long-time resident of Colorado Springs for 61 years. Mr. Anderson was a retired Sergeant Major from the United States Army, in which he served 20 plus years. Upon retirement, he attended Pikes Peak Community College where he obtained an Associate’s Degree in Mechanics. He continued to work various jobs upon retirement.

Mr. Anderson was born April 1, 1929 to B. Anderson and Magdalene Weathersby in Jefferson Davis, Mississippi.

Mr. Anderson was fond of fishing, traveling and vacationing with his family. He was a member of Divine Spirit Baptist Church where he served as an Honorary Deacon.

He was survived by his wife, Clemmie Anderson; his children: Linda Anderson, Ramona Outlaw, (son-in-law) Thomas Outlaw Jr. and Joann Anderson; his grandchildren: Joey Anderson-Hodge, (his wife) Felicia Anderson-Hodge, and Lydell Anderson-Hodge; his great grandchildren: Jamil, Jarell, Jayceon, Christian and ZaMya; along with a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ilse Anderson, and his mother, Magdalene Weathersby.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910 from 5pm-7pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 2pm at Friendship Baptist Church, 633 Dale St., Colorado Springs, CO 80903. Immediately after the service military funeral honors will be held at Shrine of Remembrance. A repast will be held following the military funeral honors at Friendship Baptist Church within the Fellowship Hall.

The family would like to thank all those who have offered condolences and food during this difficult time.
