Obituary for Howard Allen Merrick

Howard Allen  Merrick
Howard Allen Merrick, age 82, passed from this life peacefully at his home in the presence of his wife on Thursday September 21,2017. Howard was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on September 12,1935 to the late Harry Allen Merrick and Jetta Daws. Howard was also preceded in death by his son, Larr, Wayne Merrick (1957 -1958) and his older sister, Barbara Chapman. Howard was also preceded in death by several of his wife's Inmon Family for whom he was close to. Howard was a resident of Colorado Springs for several years as well as a resident of several cities in California such as: Fullerton, Vista, Hawthorn, Huntington Beach, Murrieta. Howard also resided in Dublin and Westerville, Ohio, Road Island and Texas.

Howard is survived by wife and soulmate, Donna Merrick, of 4l years; sons - Gene Bevins and wife Julie Bevins, Jim Bevins and wife Mary Bevins, Tom Bevins, Mike Merrick, Tom Merrick and wife Cindy Merrick; daughter Michelle Merrick; Grandchildren - Brittanie, Evelyn, Bethaney, Jimmy, Bailey, Shawna, Justin, Danille, Rachael, Salina, Alex, Robyn, and Nathan; 18 Great Grandchildren too numerous to list. Howard is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Merrick; Neice, Cyndy Lacey; Nephews - Mike Mclntyre and wife Denise Mclntyre, Mark Mclntyre, Mathew Mclntyre, Kenny Lacey, Clint Lacey, and Jason Lacey. Grand/Great grand nieces and nephews too numerous to list. Howard is also survived by his wife's Inmon and Gaylord Family too numerous to list.

Howard was an accomplished old school machinist for most of his working life who machined airplane parts, motorcycle parts, boat parts, golf clubs and parts, etc. Prior to machining, Howard tried his hand at being a salesman, delivering milk bottles, gas station manager,bar manager, etc.

Howard loved to fish, golf with his sons, relax on the front porch with his dog Max and his previous dog Harry, who is in Doggy Heaven. Howard loved nature; the mountains, lakes, rivers, streams - etc, trees, flowers and all the animals. Howard loved watching sports, which was his favorite passion; football, baseball, local hockey, golf, car racing and fishing. Howard loved to listen to music, especially smooth jazz.

Howard was a sensitive, caring individual who liked to help other people. Howard had a deep compassion and love for all his children. Howard, you are someone special who will always be apart of the dearest, deepest thoughts and memories treasured in our hearts.

Howard will be inurned in the "Gate of Heaven East Patio Niches", South Building, Garden Side at Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80910.
